ABOUT ILLUMINE COUNSELING
A Compassionate Space to
Heal, Grow & Reconnect With Yourself
At Illumine Counseling, therapy is a space to explore what you’ve been carrying, better understand yourself, and create meaningful change without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.
Located in Fargo, North Dakota, I provide compassionate, trauma-informed counseling in person throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area and virtually across North Dakota.
Meet Your Therapist
Hi, I’m Summer Hanson, LCSW
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by experiences that taught me how important it is to have someone to turn to during difficult seasons of life.
From an early age, I saw how deeply our experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Those experiences eventually led me toward the helping professions and continue to influence the way I approach therapy today.
I know that opening up to someone isn’t always easy. That’s why I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment, expectations, or the feeling that you need to have the right words.
My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, connection, and a genuine belief in your ability to heal and grow.

Helping You Move Beyond Surviving
One of the most meaningful parts of being a therapist is watching someone begin to recognize their own strength and create changes they once weren’t sure were possible.
I love seeing the people I work with accomplish their goals, build healthier relationships, understand themselves more deeply, and create lives that feel authentic to who they are becoming.
Therapy isn’t about changing who you are.
It’s about understanding what shaped you, healing what still hurts, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that may have gotten lost along the way.
You deserve more than simply getting through each day.
You deserve the opportunity to thrive.

The Illumine Philosophy
The name Illumine reflects something at the heart of my approach to healing: bringing awareness to the parts of ourselves that may have remained hidden, hurt, misunderstood, or pushed aside.
Sometimes meaningful change begins by gently looking at what we’ve avoided the old wounds, patterns, fears, and beliefs that continue to influence our lives.
When we bring those experiences into the light with compassion rather than judgment,
we can begin to understand them differently.
There is an element of inner alchemy in that process: taking what we’ve lived through and allowing it to become part of our growth rather than something that continues to define us.
Grounded. Compassionate. Uniquely You.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Our work together is shaped by your experiences, needs, goals, and the pace that feels right for you.
My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in creating a supportive environment where you can explore both the challenges you’re facing and the deeper patterns beneath them.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s greater awareness, choice, connection, and freedom in the way you move through your life.
You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone
You don’t need to have the perfect words or know exactly where therapy will lead. You only need a place to begin.
If you’re ready to better understand yourself, heal from what you’ve been carrying, and move toward a life that feels more authentically yours, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
